Mutation of past and present in Ugandan electronic music

Faizal Mostrixx, storyteller, afro-futurist, break-dancer, choreographer, social worker and producer gives a unique contemporary twist to traditional Ugandan rhythms. He presents daring stories about Africa and is – headlining shows at, among others, thye Nyege Nyege Festival – one of the most prominent ambassadors of electronic music for a continent in motion. This multi-talent gives an electronic twist to polyrhythmic traditions and mixes it with ceremonial chanting and stories from the world around him. As such, his single ‘Onions and Love’ of his this year previously released album Mutations, is built around an a cappella recording of a woman cutting onions while talking about her lost love. Especially for Explore the North Mostrixx has opted to be supported by a performer, who will add an extra dimension to this ritualistic, energetic performance.
