With three amplifiers, an extensive array of effect pedals, a microphone and her violin, Jessica Moss, known among other things for her role on ‘Funeral’ by Arcade Fire, toys with our imagination. While still a member of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, in 2014 she first started practising on her own, after meeting drone musician Kevin Doria. Her experimentation ultimately led to a unique style characterised by extended narrative tracks which are often instrumental. Her music brings Godspeed You! Black Emperor from her hometown to mind, with its eeriness wafting you away quickly from everyday worries. Just put on her 2017 album ‘Pools of Light’ and you will be calmly contemplating the view from your window in no time.
