EXPERIMENTAL HIP HOP BASED ON HALLUCINATORY CEREMONIES
Ayahuasca connects experimental hip hop and mental self-reflection in an innovative manner. Choreographer Gil Gomes Leal finds inspiration in the mental complexity of humans and went to Peru to study ayahuasca together with a shaman. Ayahuasca is a brew of psychoactive substances causing hallucinations. He used this life-changing experience for his performance. Six dancers use an otherworldly and at times unnerving choreography to unveil the depths of their souls according to a ceremonial quest centring on imbibing the age-old brew. It is an intoxicating investigation into a more balanced and grounded state of consciousness.
