A closed island community under the spell of technological progress

Based on his in September to be released collection De zee zwaait terug (The sea waves back) Merlijn Huntjens takes you along during this book performance to a faraway, isolated island community on the verge of being infiltrated by the modern world. With performances, music and idyllic holiday pictures he lets you meet a closed group of island habitants which is changing due to technological progress and thus forced to abandon old rituals. And as if that’s not enough, the sea also seems to be getting closer and closer. De zee zwaait terug is a celebration of estrangement, yet in fact also of tradition and recognition, allowing the changes in society to happen right in front of our very own eyes.
