Jazz band with punkrock energy

The seven jazz musicians of Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness (BCUC) from Soweto, South-Africa, represent an indigenous tradition of Afro-jazz with raw psychedelic energy which seems to be centuries old. BCUC plays music with an activist approach, proving that Africa isn’t poor at all, but actually quite rich. Rich in traditions, rituals, religion and history.

BCUC’s music is a peaceful weapon in the struggle for political and spiritual freedom. And its star is rising. With their mesmerising danceable funk music these musicians already managed to blow the ‘roof’ off major festivals such as Glastonbury, Roskilde and Sziget. They have also collaborated with living legends like Femi Kuti and Saul Williams, and most recently with DJ Gregor Salto (from the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands). A live BCUC performance is an absolute sensation, something everybody just wants to be a part of.
