Sharpen your mind with the Denker des Vaderlands and the Jonge Denker des Vaderlands of Friesland
How can we progress together? And how do we set ourselves to thinking in our daily lives in a way that allows us to understand our place in the world? These are the main questions concerning the new Dutch national philosopher, the Denker des Vaderlands, Daan Roovers. Her primary incentive is investing in our individual and collective thinking power, a matter more urgent than ever. Daan enriches thinking on current affairs with philosophical perspectives and reveals various philosophical insights in a ready manner. Last year, Line Hut was awarded the title of young Dutch national philosopher, ‘Jonge Denker des Vaderlands’, thanks to her essay on perfectionism, entitled: ‘goed genoeg is niet perse matig’ (good enough isn't necessarily mediocre). The lecture’s starting point will be Line's view on individual responsibility where capitalism is concerned, with Daan responding, informed by her expertise.

Daan Roovers spreekt en schrijft over onder meer onderwijs, opvoeding, ethische dilemma’s, politiek, drogredenen, (geestelijke) gezondheidszorg, feminisme, media, journalistiek, cultuur, muziek en stedelijke ontwikkeling. Met enige regelmaat treedt ze op in o.a. de Rode Hoed, de Nieuwe Liefde en andere podia als moderator, interviewer en columnist. Vanaf 29 maart 2019 vervult ze twee jaar lang de eretitel Denker des Vaderlands. Ze zet zich gedurende deze periode met name in voor ‘publiek denken’: dat is hardop, gezamenlijk en interactief denken.
